Face Lift & Neck Lift
“Not just younger—simply refreshed, refined, renewed.”
What is Facelift & Necklift?

A facelift and necklift (also called Rhytidectomy) are cosmetic surgeries designed to restore a youthful, refreshed look by addressing sagging skin, deep creases, and loose tissues of the face and neck. With age, gravity, sun exposure, and natural changes in collagen cause the skin to lose firmness, often resulting in jowls, wrinkles, and a tired appearance.

A Facelift focuses on tightening and lifting the cheeks, jawline, and lower face, while a Necklift refines the neckline by removing excess skin and tightening underlying muscles. Together, they smooth wrinkles, redefine contours, and create a natural, more youthful profile. Modern techniques aim for results that look elegant and fresh—not “overdone.”

What Can It Correct?

-
Sagging skin of the face or neck (due to aging, gravity, or weight loss).
-
Jowls or loss of jawline definition.
-
Loose neck skin or “turkey neck”.
-
Deep creases around the mouth and nose (nasolabial folds, marionette lines).
-
Excess fat deposits in the lower face or under the chin (double chin).
-
Platysmal banding (vertical neck bands caused by muscle laxity).
-
Overall tired or aged facial appearance despite good health.
-
Good skin elasticity and bone structure but with visible soft tissue sagging.
-
Patients seeking long-lasting, surgical results rather than temporary fillers or threads.
In short, facelifts and necklifts are best for healthy individuals who want to reverse signs of aging and restore natural contours in the lower face and neck.
Good Candidate for Face Lift Surgery

You may benefit from face lift surgery if you have:
-
sagging cheeks or jowls.
-
loose skin along jawline.
-
deep folds around mouth (nasolabial folds).
-
tired or aged facial appearance.
-
loss of youthful cheek contour.
-
neck laxity or “turkey neck” look.
-
facial wrinkles that don’t improve with creams/injectables.
Best candidates are medically fit, non-smokers with realistic expectations.
Types of Face Lift Procedures

The right technique depends on age, skin quality, degree of laxity, and aesthetic goals.
Common options include:
-
Mini Face Lift
for mild sagging, smaller incisions, quicker recovery. -
Standard/Full Face Lift
for moderate to severe aging changes. -
SMAS Face Lift
lifts deeper facial layers for longer-lasting results. -
Mid-Face Lift
focuses on cheek and under-eye area. -
Neck Lift combined with Face Lift
improves jawline and neck together.
The most suitable option is discussed during consultation.
Face Lift vs Non-Surgical Options

In Pakistan, many patients first try:
-
PRP.
-
skin tightening devices.
These may help early aging, but with advanced sagging, surgery gives the most effective and long-lasting improvement.
How Face Lift Surgery is Performed

-
Anesthesia: This is performed under local (mini-facelift) or general anesthesia (all other variants).
-
Incisions: The incisions usually placed along the margins of the sideburns, moving in front of the ears, and then behind them, and ending along the hairline behind the ears. These may be smaller for the short scar variants.
-
Procedure: The skin is separated from the deeper facial layers (SMAS). Both are lifted and tightened. The excess is removed to produce a sooth, wrinkle-free look.
-
Closure: Dissolvable sutures are used to close the SMAS. Fine sutures used for the skin closure, in order to minimize the scars.
-
Total Time: The procedure can last from 3-5 hours. Usually, the patient remains admitted overnight for observation, though in minor cases, they may be allowed to go home after a short stay.
Scars are hidden in natural creases and hairline and fade significantly over time.
Recovery After Face Lift Surgery

Expected after surgery:
-
swelling and bruising.
-
tightness or heaviness sensation.
-
temporary numbness in cheeks/ears.
Recovery timeline:
-
routine activities: 10–14 days.
-
bruising fades: 2–3 weeks.
-
return to social events: 3–4 weeks.
-
final refined results: 3–6 months.
Most patients say they look 10–15 years younger after full recovery.
Complications

-
Swelling & Bruising: Common in the first few weeks, usually temporary.
-
Hematoma: Collection of blood under the skin, may require drainage.
-
Infection: Rare, but possible—prevented with antibiotics and hygiene.
-
Scarring: Usually hidden along natural creases/hairline, but some patients may develop thick or widened scars.
-
Nerve Injury: Temporary weakness or numbness of the face/neck; permanent damage is rare.
-
Asymmetry: Subtle differences in contour or skin tightness may occur.
-
Skin Necrosis: More likely in smokers due to reduced blood supply.
-
Hairline Changes: Small shifts in sideburn or hairline position can occur.
-
Unsatisfactory Result: Over- or under-correction, sometimes requiring revision.
-
Prolonged Healing: Especially in patients with diabetes, smoking, or poor skin quality.
Face Lift Can Be Combined With:

For complete facial rejuvenation, facelift is often combined with:
-
neck lift.
-
skin resurfacing/laser.
Combination treatment ensures balanced, natural results.
